Thoughts on the final four: Some advice from the couch for ‘The Bachelorette’

By Casey Gillis on Jun. 19, 2008

DeAnna Pappas has got it made.

Sure, she got her heart broken by “Bachelor” Brad Womack last season. But now she’s back as “The Bachelorette” and has spent the past month narrowing a group of 25 mostly hot, eligible men down to her final four.

Now that there are four left, we all know what that means: hometown dates! On Monday night, DeAnna will travel to each guy’s home, where she’ll meet his family and loved ones.

I’ve had my favorite picked out from the very beginning: Graham, the 29-year-old pro basketball player from North Carolina.

It’s still not clear what team he plays for - the minor leagues, perhaps? - but he can play on mine anytime. I’m kind of secretly hoping he doesn’t get the final rose, so I can go find him in North Carolina.

Oh, I kid, I kid; I’m not a stalker or anything. Yet.

For the most part, Graham is a great guy. He’s a Southern gentleman with an adorable accent, a great smile and a sense of humor. But he also has a bit of a bad boy edge and, really, what girl isn’t attracted to that?

He and DeAnna’s relationship has been tempestuous and, on several occasions, they have spent their alone time arguing. She’s concerned that he hasn’t had any long-term relationships and that he hasn’t opened up to her as much as the other guys, who have gone out of their way to do so. Still, it’s obvious Dee likes him the most, no matter what he does.

Speaking of going out of one’s way, let’s talk about Jeremy, the 30-year-old Texas real estate lawyer. I just don’t like the guy. He does everything right on the surface, but it doesn’t always seem genuine. He always has to be the first person to greet her and is constantly pulling her away from other guys for more one-on-one time. Their budding relationship just feels forced.

Also on my ehh list is single father Jason, who kinda creeps me out. He was cute in the first episode, especially when they showed him with his 3-year-old son. But while Graham may not try enough, Jason tries too hard. Plus, he took way too long to tell her about his son.

The fourth guy still vying for DeAnna’s heart is Jesse, who has definitely emerged as the dark horse contender. At first glance, the professional snowboarder and his quirky wardrobe were definitely not DeAnna’s type. But like her, the more I see of this guy, the more I like him. He’s got a great, fun personality and just gets cuter and cuter every week.

So, fellow “Bachelorette” watchers, who’s your pick to win DeAnna’s heart? Leave a comment on the Couch Potato blog, and let me know.
